Wellness & Our Society

We all deserve individualized care focused on keeping us healthy, not treating diseases.

Let’s face it, our healthcare system is not 100% supporting our needs.

While we do see some evolution in the system, it’s not moving quickly enough to support our bodies, and minds, as an inter-connected system. Most traditionally-educated practitioners have been trained to learn about one part of our bodies in depth, which is fantastic if we have assurance that our problem really is related to one part of our body. However, the reality is that the human body has 11 major organ systems, and they are dependent on each other. So while treating a common problem such as back pain might seem straightforward, and there are medications that can ease the symptoms - the reality is that back pain can stem from many root causes, some of which include posture, injury, weight, stress, trauma, dehydration, and nutrition. When’s the last time your doctor walked through all of these possibilities with you and helped you understand the dynamics at play? When’s the last time someone worked with you to prevent these problems by helping you learn about your body and draft your “user manual” to sustained wellness?

Our system relies on us to do the research, to learn how to take care of our body and our mental health.

To treat daily aches and pains with over the counter medications, and when we can’t do that, we spend hours in doctors offices, we take tests, get bounced around to specialists, and then billed after insurance has covered their share. For people who are neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism…) and/or who struggle with mental health challenges (Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar, etc,) the challenge is compounded. After a while, finding peace and wellness can feel futile.

The gap that exists today in healthcare is connecting the parts of the whole to support all 11 systems working in harmony.

For years, I’ve watched multiple people in my family, including my husband, struggle with physical illness that manifests in multiple parts of their body that seem unrelated. All the while also struggling with mental health challenges that make getting through the day difficult, never mind chasing specialists and doing research to stay informed to advocate for themselves. I can’t tell you how many thousands of dollars we’ve paid in medical bills for specialists and tests that still tell us they don’t know what’s wrong, but take these pills and we’ll see what happens. Including his STEMI heart attack at aged 49 that came out of the blue - this is the kind of thing that changes the life of the individual and their family forever.

This is why I’m passionate about holistic wellness.

My mission is to be part of real change in our country where every person has the basic tools to understand how the body works. I strive to help everyone learn what they can do to be in control of their health to preventatively care for their health versus reactively treat symptoms. What I’ve learned on my journey is that many maladies can be prevented or even cured with nutrition, movement, and lifestyle changes.

Having spent years as a leader working with team members, I find that I personally get a ton of energy helping people. This is my calling: I’m a natural caregiver, and my purpose on this Earth is to educate, nurture, and help our community thrive.
